Ecologies of Value (Talk), Gray's School and Woodend Barn – Early October 2013

November 7, 2013

In early October I travelled to Aberdeen to do a talk on ‘Ecologies of Value’ at the excellent Grays School and visited Helen smith’s PHD project on the local history and much more of the lavender industry in Banchory.

I had been invited to comment on Helen’s very fine project which was installed at Woodend Barn on the edge of Banchory in Aberdeenshire. Woodend Barn is a hub of creativity, hosting a diverse programme of music, theatre, comedy, dance, film, children’s events, art exhibitions and workshops. I was so impressed with what this place has and, I am sure, will achieve within and without the locality and community…really huge amounts of energy and commitment from a largely volunteer work force… I do hope to return to the barn quite soon.
